History of Ming Chuan University
During its 61 years, Ming Chuan University has cultivated over 150,000 alumni around the world. Affirmation from the society, alumni, and current students not only promotes the reputation of Ming Chuan, but displays the witness of history regarding Ming Chuan's educational philosophy.
Overall, the university sits on a composite 40 hectares, respectively, at Taipei’s Shihlin Campus, Taoyuan’s Guishan Campus, Kinmen Location, Jihe Complex, and Michigan Location. MCU comprises 12 schools, 36 departments, and 30 masters’ and doctoral programs. The schools of Management, and Communication are located on Taipei Campus to keep on top of the pulse of Taipei’s business management, financial, legal and communication information.
MCU helps students by forging multiple internship opportunities, which not only build up their practical experiences, but also strengthen their employment competence.
The schools of Tourism, Information Technology, Design, Education and Applied Languages, Social Sciences, Health Technology, and Financial Technology, as well as International College, are based on Taoyuan Campus. Two schools, Communication and Tourism, also operate programs at Kinmen Location, with masters’ programs for work-experience students also offered there.
Actively Promoting International Academic Exchange
Ming Chuan University actively develops international exchanges, having signed sister school agreements with 160 universities around the world. MCU established the first International College in Taiwan, and, through it, has been providing English-taught degree programs for youth at home and abroad since 2000.
Currently, there are 819 foreign students studying at the university, which ranks MCU top among universities in Taiwan. Students have come from more than 90 countries, including Australia, Canada, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Senegal, Swaziland, United Kingdom and United States. Through this, the university provides the chance for students from Taiwan and different cultural backgrounds to gather and learn together. MCU also ranks eighth for the number of undergraduate students studying abroad for credit, ranks top one for English-taught degree programs in Taiwan, and also top one for the number of employability programs offered.
